Worked with the Responsible Business Lending Coalition to expand support for small business financing protections at the state and federal levels. Led the Coalition’s communications team to secure media coverage in the Wall Street Journal and American Banker, op-ed placements in key local publications, and speaking engagements at national conferences such as LendIt and the Just Economy Conference. Elevated messaging to ensure that the Coalition’s language aligned with evidence-based best practices in persuasion and narrative change to resonate with a range of stakeholders—from business owners to local reporters to congressional staffers. Developed and implemented new strategies to identify and collaborate with business owners to share their personal stories, bolstering advocacy efforts in several key states.

Led the design and execution of three annual Health Action conferences, including the organization’s first-ever virtual and its first-ever hybrid conference, which each convened more than 600 advocates. Restructured the organization’s content strategy for this signature event to reflect best practices in virtual and hybrid engagement, including for people with disabilities and neurodiverse individuals. Worked with executive leadership and staff across departments to ensure that the design and execution of the event aligned with the organization’s broader programmatic objectives, including by leveraging data to activate conference attendees throughout the year. Piloted new ways to share power and elevate the work of Families USA’s state and national partners, including through virtual booths, strategically timed action alerts across multiple platforms, and in-person site visits. Achieved tangible short-term results, such as record-breaking registration numbers and attendee satisfaction survey results, as well as long-term gains, such as deepened relationships with diverse national and state partners and an enriched database of engaged advocates to support strategic advocacy campaigns throughout the year.

Managed a multi-year study for Accion’s U.S. Network on the impact of micro-loans on small business owners and their communities across the U.S., in partnership with a research firm and peer nonprofit microfinance lender, Opportunity Fund. Led the campaign to promote the study’s findings, including: commissioning and overseeing the design of an interactive webpage and accompanying print materials; earning media placements in national and local outlets; securing speaking engagements at nine industry conferences; developing a social media campaign that earned more than 56,000 impressions; and organizing meetings with staff from the U.S. Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve Board to discuss related research and policy recommendations.
